Leaders are made, not born!

I believe that some folks have qualities of leadership. I do not apprehend whether or not it's genetic or deep-rooted as a toddler. However, some folks have the specified talents of an honest leader. Others square measure fully lacking in those talents. Some have some leadership qualities, however not the complete spectrum a number of those will structure for the shortage with exertions and perseverance.

Are leaders made?
by: Denis

Hi Daniel,

Interesting that you strongly refute the conception that leaders are born. Would you care to expand on the logic that brings you to strongly hold this belief? I would like to understand your perspective.

Personally, I don't have the answer, but can't help to think about the fact that some other "Psychological" states have a genetic predisposition. For example studies on identical twins, separated at birth and raise in different social context, support the hypothesis that there are some predispositions, as their behaviors patterns are very similar. In fact, the same could be apply to siblings, they are raised by the same parents, evolve in the same social context and still they don't adopt the same behavioral patterns. Thus, suggesting that there could be some characteristic that are inborn at least to a degree, and one can only think that leadership qualities wouldn't be an exception to the rule!

I do agree that training, formal and informal, can lead one to become a better leader, but what makes an individual want to take the training in the first place? Many people know that smoking or eating junk food isn’t good for your health, yet we do it anyways! So one may know the “theory”, but that doesn’t mean that he or she will act out the proper behaviors.
